there is life here.

straight edge, vegetarian, posi, pacifist, musician, non denominational christian, occasional writer. i'm probably older than you think i am. i love to travel.

i spend my time going to shows, writing music, and doing graphic design for a living. i've seen the scene ebb and flow, but i'm not going anywhere. more than a decade here and hardcore and music is still my family.

i am currently playing bass/guitar/electronics in a post-rock band called analecta. i also play guitar and do vocals for a melodic hardcore band called Chin Up! with my "free" time i write and record solo material under the moniker In The Absence Of Dreaming.

this makes me think of the old days.
1. patrick took a bass to the forehead and was gushing blood everywhere. tied a bandanna around his head and kept playing.2. paul fell out of some rafters upside down and thought he broke his leg, but kept playing.3. piper:
took a bass to the crown of his head… split it open like a melon and still convinced the EMT’s who happened to be at the show to let us play at least one more song.
took a bass to the face, tore open his eyebrow really bad. gushing blood from his face in the first five minutes of the show. mopped it up. covered it and kept playing.
fell WITH a bank of fluorescent lights into the drumkit. broken glass everywhere. kept playing.
crashed THROUGH a stage floor. (leg went right through the stage.)
three of us broke our noses in the first three months as a band and it never even slowed us down.we spilled a fair share of blood on stage. but… why stop playing?concussions, lacerations, things that need stitches.. whatever. we’re going to finish and THEN deal with it.
also, there’s a pattern in the previously mentioned things.apparently i’m not very good at realizing WHERE i swing the bass.i hurt my band a lot. sorry guys.
